1. Who may sponsor a contestant? What do sponsors do?
Sponsors must be 21 years or older. Parents, teachers, coaches, and friends may serve as sponsors. Sponsors provide contestants support. For example, by providing feedback or giving them a lift to the venue to perform in person.
2. If I enter the contest by video, do I need to submit my video when I register?
No, you have until by 5 PM, January 15, 2025 to submit your video. Video links submitted after you register for the contest should be sent to info@mlkvoice4youth.org
3. Can I collaborate with my peers as a duo, trio, quartet?
Yes, to a maximum of 5. You have creative freedom and creativity is encouraged. If you place in the top 3, you will need to share the cash prize with your colleagues.
4. Can contestants use AI to prepare their presentation?
There are ways contestants may and may not use AI. If contestants wish to use AI, please refer to the section on the rules page for ways contestants MAY and MAY NOT use AI to prepare their presentation for MLK VOICE 4 YOUTH 2025.
5. Will I be penalized if my performance goes under 3 minutes or over 5 minutes?
No, it is a timeframe for you to have an idea how long your performance should be.
6. Do I need to memorize my presentation?
No, but bonus marks are given for memorization and finalists are strongly encouraged to memorize their piece.
7. Do I need to submit a copy of my presentation?
Only finalists are required to submit an electronic copy of their presentation prior to the Finals.
